A Profound Experience
One of the key roles of Capital Services Branch is to review and authorize requests for capital funding from BC’s Health Authorities. The Branch processes 300 authorization requests annually. Due to an increase in the volume of capital projects in the health sector, workload had almost doubled. Branch leadership saw an opportunity to streamline core business processes to realize time savings while increasing staff engagement and quality of outputs.
Following our proven Lean methodology, Berlineaton delivered a series of intensive process improvement workshops with Branch staff to map out the current processes and identify key issues and opportunities. We then mobilized the knowledge, experience and creativity of Branch Directors, Analysts and Administrative staff to design a faster, better all-round process that targets lower-risk, higher-volume files.
The redesigned approach features a 50% decrease in turnaround time enabled through a transparent and easy to understand process, teamwork, higher levels of delegation, and the use of simple review, tracking, and reporting tools.
